The idea of Hiskare Worldwide was conceived by two high school friends, Benon & Bill who met in 2006 in Kampala, Uganda. The two became close friends and finished school together. In 2012, they realized they had a similar dream to help people.
Early 2013, Bill and Benon begun building an organization dedicated to improving life for vulnerable groups of people wherever they would be found, primarily in Uganda. The Student Sponsorship Program (SSP) begun a few months later with one child to provide educational support to needy children in the Nsambya area of Kampala city, which also was the first work area for the organization. The initial organization core team of five held their first meeting on June 8th 2013 in Kampala to forge ways forward for the newly established organization. The initial 4yrs of the organization were very hard due to various barriers, and little progress was made.
Hiskare Worldwide was officially registered as a Non-Government Organization (NGO) on June 30th 2015 by the government of Uganda for charitable purposes. Today, Hiskare Worldwide still stands on the frontline to support, and empower people to lead sustainable livelihoods and head to a powerful future.
What The Founders Say
“It’s been and it’s still a great privilege for us to serve people. We hear peoples sad stories and see the need around them everyday, we get a little saddened but we stay positive and excited to find them possible solutions. We have enjoyed doing this over the years and we are still excited to keep doing it, we thank God. Its been tough though to build Hiskare Worldwide from the African side, we have encountered numerous challenges and barriers and several times, we have gotten to the verge of giving up, but faith, hope and encouragement from our friends and mentors, most especially Rev. Manuela Glenn has kept us going, we are now strong!. We are looking forward to a powerful future to keep growing as leaders, raise more funding and reach more people with the support and empowerment they need to thrive.
We believe God made all people to succeed both physically and spiritually, John 10:10, however, there are always barriers to this, which is why people need help. We believe that with what we have together with the support of others, we can help people navigate the barriers and challenges they face to living a possible life today and enjoying a powerful sustainable future tomorrow”.
